Presenting at PSRS

The following points are specific to poster presentations at PSRS.

Eligibility

The showcase is all about displaying the breadth and variety of postgraduate student research conducted at the University of Manchester. As such, we welcome submissions from all stages of a PhD research project, so long as the motivation behind the work and the potential impact is effectively communicated.

Audience

The audience at PSRS will be very general, with leading academics from different fields, professional support service staff, and the wider public. Many people will be non-specialists in the subject matter of the poster, hence it is advisable to avoid technical language.

Poster Board Size

Each presenter will have a poster board of size 2100mm tall and 1250mm wide. A0 and A1 posters will fit in both landscape or portrait orientations. Velcro and adhesive will be provided.

Submission: Title, Abstract and Keywords

The submission consists of the poster title, a short abstract of 200 words maximum. The actual poster is not required until the event itself, as explained in the timings below.

Poster Submission / Printing

Poster presenters will be required to submit their poster electronically (PDF format) by 22nd May so that we can print them for you. Please email your PDF poster to psrs@manchester.ac.uk before the deadline.

You are welcome to re-use existing posters from other competitions or conferences. If you are re-using a poster please bring these to the Reception desk in Research and Business Engagement Support Services, 2nd Floor Christie Building on Wednesday 14th June 2023 between 12:00 and 15:00, or bring the poster to set up before 10:00 on Thursday 15th June. This will ensure judging can start on time on the day of the showcase.
