MDC Excellence Awards

Celebrating research excellence

The Manchester Doctoral College (MDC) takes pride in the efforts and successes of its postgraduate research students. Annually, MDC celebrates exceptional performances from students by hosting its Excellence Awards, which, for the first time this year, took place alongside the Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase.

Awards are broken down into four categories, and they are as follows:

  • Best outstanding output - recognises research outputs of the highest quality and acknowledges the continuing importance of high-quality research to the University.
  • Best contribution to postgraduate research environment recognises the outstanding achievement or contribution of a student(s) towards the enhancement of the postgraduate environment. An award will be made to a student who has made a positive impact, demonstrated innovation and creativity in their actions, and been an inspirational role model to other students.
  • Best contribution to society (local community and research impact) - recognises outstanding achievement/contribution of an individual or group that has offered their time and energy to make a difference to the social and economic well-being of our communities.
  • Best contribution to internationalisation - given to the student who best encapsulates the spirit of internationalisation at Manchester.
