Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase

Enhancing the research community through interdisciplinary connections

The Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase (PSRS) is an innovative series of events that seeks to enhance the research community at the University of Manchester by providing postgraduate researchers with unique opportunities disseminate their research to a wider audience.

The events bring together researchers from different faculties, allowing them to build expected interdisciplinary connections! Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, the University’s President and Vice Chancellor, believes events like are, invaluable parts of the University's fabric. “One of the things I really like is seeing students from Engineering and Physical Sciences talking to students from Social Sciences,” she commented of the Showcase in its inaugural year.

PSRS allows our young researchers of today to cultivate and develop useful skills, such as presenting and communicating ideas, thus creating stronger researchers of tomorrow! Postgraduates themselves gain a lot from such opportunities for interdisciplinary networking across the University, as research student and poster presenter Naomi Billingsley expressed, “It really makes you think about how to break your research down and explain it to a wider audience.”

The next annual showcase event will take place on Tuesday 23rd June 2020 in Whitworth Hall and Christies Bistro (numbers 50 and 58 on the campus map).
