Postgraduate Research Showcase

Enhancing the research community through interdisciplinary connections

The Postgraduate Research Showcase is a series of events that brings together PGRs from across the University and provides them with an opportunity to disseminate their research to a wider audience.

The 2025 showcase will take place on Tuesday 17th June.

Timetable for the day (subject to change):

Registration and Refreshments (10:00 - 10:30) - Whitworth Hall

Arrive and enjoy refreshments and networking.

Research Exhibition / Competition (10:30 - 12:00) - Whitworth Hall

Participating PGRs will present a 90 second Elevator Pitch judged by non-expert staff and peers. Presenters can bring supplementary materials with them that help convey their research. This could be a Poster, an image, a piece of music or short video.

Research in Action Image Competition (10:00 - 15:00) - Christie Bistro

Come and view our 'Research In Action' image competition finalists and vote for your favourite.

Lunch and Information Fair (12:00 - 13:00) - Christie Bistro

Join us for lunch in the Christie Bistro and meet colleagues and peers from the Library, the Students Union and the Disability Advisory Support Service etc. Also come along and complete your PGR Voice Survey (or show us that you already have) to collect a free gift (while stocks last).

Jamie Gallagher - Periodic Success (13:00 - 13:45) - Whitworth Hall

Sign up and join material scientist and professional science communicator Dr Jamie Gallagher on an interactive and explosive tour of the elemental housing block as he celebrates the history and future of The Periodic Table.

Facilitated Networking (14:00 - 15:00) - Whitworth Hall

Join our Researcher Development team for some facilitated networking activities and meet fellow PGRs from across UoM.

MDC Excellence Awards (15:00 - 16:30) - Christies Bistro

The day will come to a close with a drinks reception and awards ceremony for our PGR MDCSG Excellence winners and winners of the Presentation and Image competitions. All welcome.
