Judging
In the first round of judging, a panel of non-academics from the University will shortlist up to 15 entries and choose an overall winner and a runner up. All images will be reviewed anonymously.
In addition to the overall winner and the runner up chosen by the judges, a further prize will be awarded to the winner of a public vote. All the winners will be announced during the MDC Excellence Awards.
The judges will assess the images using the following criteria:
Image
- Does the image attract attention, as well as engage and inspire the audience?
- What is the overall impression of the image?
Title/span
- Does the title link the content of the image and the caption? Is it eye-catching?
Caption
- Does the caption articulate the impact (or potential impact) of the research, whether at an individual, local, national or international level?
- Does the caption clearly present information in a style which is accessible to a lay audience?
Overall
- Does the image, title and caption have a coherent narrative with a clear message?
