Once we have reviewed all of the submissions we will produce a shortlist of the demonstrations selected for presentation at the Showcase event. This shortlist will reflect the aspects of the judging criteria below in addition to the feasibility of display designs.
At the Showcase event the interactive research demonstrations will be assessed by a panel of academic and non-academic judges. This assessment will be based on the judging criteria provided below. The panel will select an overall winner and a runner up. All winners will be announced during the MDC Excellent Awards on Tuesday 27th June.
Judging criteria
The 2017 Interactive Research Demonstration will be assessed on the following criteria:

What is the overall first impression of the interactive research demonstration? Do you like the display (yes/no)?
Does the demonstration attract attention, as well as engage and inspire the audience?
Title/span
Is the title appealing, eye-catching and comprehensible?
Does the title link the content of the interactive research demonstration and the caption?
Caption
Does the caption articulate the impact (or potential impact) of the research, whether at an individual, local, national or international level?
Does the caption clearly present information in a style which is accessible to a lay audience?
Presentation
Knowledge of field: The presenter(s) should be able to demonstrate knowledge and enthusiasm in their subject.
Explanation and answering questions: The presenter(s) should be able to clearly explain answers, and satisfactorily answer any questions that you may have.
Articulation of impact: The presenter(s) should be able to articulate the impact or potential impact of their research. This may be at a personal, or at local, national and international levels.

Does the interactive research demonstration, title and caption have a coherent narrative with a clear message?
