Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase

Interactive Research Competition

An exciting addition to the 2017 showcase will be the interactive research competition. This competition will challenge postgraduate researchers to demonstrate the key concepts and impact of their research to a wide audience, in a manner that is interactive and engaging.

Presenting your research interactively directly communicates value, output and impact. It can also provide a forum to engage with a wider range of people, where visual or tangible demonstrative concepts can facilitate a greater understanding of the ideas that underpin your work. What’s more, this competition provides a unique opportunity to exhibit your fascination and the motivations behind your research in a high-visibility, high-impact setting.

We invite postgraduate researchers to submit their ideas for an interactive research demonstration. This will incorporate visual aids, physical props or similar as a ‘research display’, in addition to at least one presenter to deliver the content of the demonstration. It is important that the display includes at least one interactive element, besides the presenter, in order to qualify for the competition. All demonstrations must be accompanied by a title (no more than 50 words) and a caption (no more than 300 words) both of which should clearly explain the purpose and the impact of the interactive display. You should also provide supporting notes detailing the content, design and specific requirements of your interactive research display. Please see the submission guidelines for more information.
